Collecting Customer Signatures on Service Tickets

Overview

Contractor Foreman allows technicians to collect customer signatures directly on Service Tickets using the mobile app. This provides confirmation that the work has been completed or acknowledged while the technician is on-site.

The signature feature is available within the Service Ticket in the mobile application and is intended to be captured in person. At this time, signatures collected through the Service Ticket are not intended to be requested or completed through the desktop version.

How Service Ticket Signatures Work

When working from the Contractor Foreman mobile app, technicians can open a Service Ticket and collect the customer’s signature before completing the visit.

The signature is stored as part of the Service Ticket, providing a record that the customer acknowledged the completed work or service performed.

Because the signature is collected directly within the mobile app, the customer must be physically present with the technician at the time of signing.

Collecting a Signature

To collect a customer signature:

  1. Open the Contractor Foreman mobile app.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate Service Ticket.
  3. Scroll to the Signature section.
  4. Have the customer sign directly on the mobile device.
  5. Save the Service Ticket.

Once saved, the signature becomes part of the Service Ticket record.

Desktop vs. Mobile

The Service Ticket signature field is designed for use within the mobile application.

While Service Tickets can be viewed and managed from the desktop application, the signature collection feature is not available there. Customers cannot sign a Service Ticket remotely through the desktop interface.

Remote Signature Requests

Unlike Change Orders or Subcontracts, Service Tickets do not include a built-in workflow for sending the ticket to a customer for electronic approval or signature.

If your workflow requires customers to sign documents remotely, consider using a custom form or another document type that supports electronic approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I email a Service Ticket to a customer for signature?

No. Service Tickets do not include a built-in electronic signature request process.

Can customers sign from the desktop version?

Does the technician need to be with the customer?

Can I create my own signature workflow?

Yes. If your business requires a different approval process, you can create a custom form or implement a custom workflow that better fits your requirements.
