Exporting a Marked-Up Plan from the Takeoff Tool in Contractor Foreman

Contractor Foreman allows users to export a PDF that includes both the plan markups and the associated measurement or material table generated during the takeoff process. This is useful for sharing clear documentation with customers, project managers, or internal teams, as it combines visual annotations with quantified data in a single file.

Below is a step-by-step guide explaining how to export a marked-up plan from the Takeoff Tool.

1. Open the Takeoff Tool

Begin by opening the Takeoff Tool within your project. This tool allows you to perform measurements directly on the plan and generate material or quantity calculations based on those measurements.

2. Ask the Chat Assistant to Generate Objects

Within the interaction panel of the Takeoff Tool, locate the Chat function. It is the second option from left to right in the interaction panel.

Use the chat to request the objects or measurements you want created. For example, you can ask the system to generate specific objects or takeoff elements relevant to the plan you are working on.

3. Allow the System to Generate the Table

Once the requested objects are created, the system automatically generates a data table containing the measurements, materials, or quantities associated with those objects. This table summarizes the takeoff information in a structured format.

4. Export the PDF

Open the generated table and locate the PDF icon within the table interface.

Clicking this icon will generate a PDF export that includes:

  • The original plan with all markups and annotations
  • The generated takeoff table containing the measurement or material output

This combined document provides a clear overview of both the visual takeoff markings and the supporting data.

5. Review the Exported Document

The resulting PDF will display the marked-up plan alongside the takeoff data table, allowing stakeholders to easily understand how the quantities were derived from the plan.

This format is particularly useful when:

  • Sharing takeoff results with clients
  • Documenting project estimates
  • Providing internal review materials for teams

Summary

By using the Takeoff Tool’s chat-assisted object creation and the built-in PDF export feature, Contractor Foreman enables users to quickly produce a professional document that combines plan markups with corresponding measurement data. This streamlines communication and ensures transparency in the takeoff process.
