How can I activate GPS location for time cards?

The Time Card GPS Location is a great feature used by many companies. It can Pin Point the employees Location at the time of Clocking in or out, On & Off Break and even when they change their Project (If they should move to another job site).

You can activate this feature by going to the System Settings or to the Time Cards and click on the “gear” icon:

A new window will pop up and you fill find multiple settings. Scroll down until you see the section “GPS Tracking”, once there, click on the green pencil to edit those settings and then make sure that the option “Enable Geofencing for Time Cards” is “On”.

After this process has taken place, now it is very easy to enable the Geofencig at the project level. You have to go to the Projects Module and open the project which you would like to enable the Geofencing feature for.

As shown in the screenshot below, we are in the Project Module, a Project is open and we are on the section “Details”. Once there, scroll at the bottom of that screen and click on the option “Project Configuration”. It will show you a couple of options. The one of our interest is the “Set the GeoFence Area (for Time Card Clock In)”.

Tick the checkbox and click on the button “Define Location”. A new window will show up. Type again the project addres and make sure the red pin is right where your jobsite is.

Once you have set up your precise location and radius where your guys will be able to clock in and clock out, make sure to click on the blue “Submit” button, and that is it!

Remember that the first steps were only to enable the Geofence function and will not have to be done again, it is a one thing type of deal. However, setting the actual geolocation of the geofence has to be done per Project.

NOTE: This Feature only works if the employee keeps the GPS on the device switched ON.
