Almost every module inside Contractor Foreman allows you to create Custom Fields. This flexibility is designed to help you collect additional information beyond the default fields available in each feature.

Custom Fields are extremely useful when you want to capture project-specific details or company-specific requirements that are not included by default. For example:

  • If you want every Daily Log to include a special note or quality-control item
  • If you want Change Orders to include a unique internal tracking code
  • If you want Invoices to collect an approval reference number
  • If you want Projects to store a custom status or category

Creating Custom Fields allows you to capture this extra layer of information across all projects and all users.

But then the question becomes:

How do I extract the information I’ve added to Custom Fields?

How do I get all this custom data back in the form of a report—for daily logs, change orders, invoices, or any other module?

The good news is: it’s very simple.

Below is a step-by-step explanation of exactly how to access your Custom Field values through the Reports module.

Step-by-Step: Accessing Custom Field Values Through Reports

1. Go to the Reports Module

From your left-side menu, open the Reports section.

This is where you can run all system-generated and custom reports for every module.

2. Click on “Create New Custom Report”

On the top-right corner, click the dropdown:
Create New Custom Report

This opens a list of modules or features you can create a custom report for—Daily Logs, Time Cards, Change Orders, Estimates, Invoices, Safety, Projects, and many more.

3. Select the Module or Feature You Want

Choose the module where you originally created the custom field.

For example:

  • If the custom field was added in Daily Logs, select “Daily Reports”.
  • If the custom field was added in Change Orders, select “Change Orders”.
  • If the custom field was added in Invoices, select “Invoices”.

Once selected, the system will open the Custom Report Editor.

4. Go to the “Columns” Section

Inside the report editor, you will see multiple tabs or sections.
Select Columns.

This is where you decide which data fields appear in your final report.

5. Locate Your Custom Field Name

This is the key step:

Under the Columns list, scroll until you find your Custom Field exactly as you named it.

Contractor Foreman automatically adds your custom field to the list of available columns.
That means if your custom field was called:

“Describe additional scope of work by the client”

…you will now see that field appear under the Columns section.

Simply check the box to include it in your report.

6. Apply Filters and Run the Report (Optional)

You can apply filters such as:

  • By project
  • By date range
  • By employee
  • By status
  • By created-by user

This allows you to target the exact custom field data you want to analyze.

7. Export or Save the Report

Once the custom field appears in your report preview:

  • Download as PDF or Excel
  • Or Save the report so you can reuse it under “Saved Custom Reports”

Example Scenario

Let’s say you added a custom field in Daily Logs called:

“Describe additional scope of work by the client”

When you create a custom Daily Log report, you will see this exact field listed under the Columns section. Once selected, the data entered by your team in that custom field will populate in the report.

This makes it extremely easy to:

  • Review custom notes
  • Track project-specific details
  • Consolidate all entries across multiple projects
  • Present the information to management or clients

Conclusion

Accessing your Custom Fields through reports is quick and simple. As long as the custom field exists in the module, Contractor Foreman will automatically make it available as a column inside the Custom Report Editor.

If the information exists in Contractor Foreman, you can extract it through a custom report—always.Almost every module inside Contractor Foreman allows you to create Custom Fields or Custom Field Values. This flexibility is designed to help you collect additional information beyond the default fields available in each feature.
