When creating a new permit in Contractor Foreman, you may find that the permit type you need is not already listed. No problem—you can easily add a new type on the spot.

Steps to Add a New Permit Type

  1. Head over to the Permits Module.

  2. Click + Permit to create a new permit.

  3. In the popup window, go to the field labeled Type.

  4. Simply type the new permit type you want to add and press Enter.

  5. The new type will be saved and available for use in future permits.

Why is it important to have different permit types?

  • Clarity and organization: Different permits serve different purposes (e.g., electrical, plumbing, fire marshal). Labeling them correctly avoids confusion.

  • Regulatory compliance: Inspectors often track inspections by specific permit type. If you group them all together, it’s harder to meet local requirements.

  • Backtracking and accountability: Having clear categories makes it easy to trace past inspections and permits if questions arise later.

  • Efficiency in project management: Organizing by type allows project teams to quickly filter, find, and update the permits they need without mixing them up.

In short, creating new permit types ensures that your records stay accurate, professional, and fully aligned with how inspectors, owners, and contractors expect to see them. How to Add a New Permit Type?
