If you are using QuickBooks and want to add cost codes from QuickBooks to Contractor Foreman, there are two main methods for doing this.

Method 1: Link QuickBooks and Contractor Foreman through QuickBooks Integration (Recommended)

The most efficient way to bring cost codes from QuickBooks into Contractor Foreman is by using the built-in QuickBooks integration. This allows for a seamless connection between the two systems, where cost codes, among other data, can be synced easily.

Method 2: Export and Import Cost Codes Manually

If you prefer not to use the QuickBooks integration, you can manually export cost codes from QuickBooks and import them into Contractor Foreman using the CSV template.

Export Cost Codes from QuickBooks:

In QuickBooks, go to Reports and generate a report of your existing Products and Services. Export this report as a CSV file.

In Contractor Foreman, go to the Cost Codes section from the main settings.

From the Action drop-down menu, select View Import Template. This will allow you to download the CSV template file that Contractor Foreman uses for importing cost codes.

Add Your Cost Codes to the Template:

Open the exported QuickBooks file and the Contractor Foreman template in a spreadsheet program (e.g., Excel).

Copy the cost codes from QuickBooks and paste them into the appropriate columns of the Contractor Foreman template. Ensure that each column is correctly filled in according to the template’s instructions (e.g., CSI Code, CSI Name, Status).

Import the CSV into Contractor Foreman:

Once your cost codes have been added to the template, save the file.

In Contractor Foreman, go back to the Action drop-down menu and select Import Cost Codes (From File). Select your CSV file and upload it. Contractor Foreman will import the cost codes into your system.

Review and Organize Cost Codes:

After importing, check that all cost codes are correctly displayed and organized under parent or child categories as necessary.
