How do I add Tax to a Change Order?

Contractor Foreman allows you to apply a tax rate to taxable line items within a Change Order. You can select which individual items are taxable and then choose the applicable tax rate.

Step 1: Open the Change Order

1. Go to the Change Orders module and open the Change Order you want to update.
2. Review the line items listed in the Change Order.

Step 2: Mark Items as Taxable

1. For each line item that should have tax applied, select the Tax checkbox.
2. Only the line items marked as taxable will be included when the Change Order tax is calculated.

Step 3: Select the Tax Rate

1. Locate the Tax/Amount section below the Change Order line items.
2. Select the appropriate tax rate from the available tax-rate options. The selected rate is then used to calculate tax for the line items marked as taxable.

Step 4: Review the Tax Amount

1. After selecting the tax rate, review the displayed tax amount to confirm that the calculation is correct.
2. Make sure that the correct line items are marked as taxable and that the appropriate tax rate has been selected.

Step 5: Save the Change Order

1. After confirming the taxable items, tax rate, and calculated amount, save the Change Order to retain your changes.

How Do I Set Up Tax Rates?

1. Tax rates must be configured in Contractor Foreman before they can be selected on a Change Order.
2. Go to Settings and open the applicable Financial Settings or tax configuration area. Add or configure the tax rates your company needs.

• Once the tax rates are configured, they can be selected when applying tax to applicable Change Order items.

The available tax-rate options depend on the tax rates configured for your Contractor Foreman account. Always verify that the correct tax rate is selected and that only the appropriate Change Order items are marked as taxable
