How Do I Change Status Labels and Their Colors in the Card View of Certain Features?

Customizing status labels and their associated colors in Contractor Foreman’s card view enhances visual organization and quick identification within key modules, such as Estimates, Invoices, or Change Orders. This personalization allows teams to align interface cues with project workflows, making it easier to spot progress at a glance—whether highlighting urgent items in red or completed tasks in green—without altering the underlying data or requiring external tools.

Access the Relevant Module Settings

Begin by entering the specific module where status customization is needed. This targeted approach ensures changes apply precisely to the card view of that feature, maintaining consistency across your dashboard while avoiding unintended modifications elsewhere.

  1. From the main navigation Menu, select the desired module—for example, Estimates. Choosing a module like Estimates opens its dedicated interface, where card-based layouts display items with status indicators. This step positions you directly in the context of the feature, streamlining access to visual customizations that reflect your team’s priorities.

  1. In the top right corner, click the gear icon to enter the Settings page for that module. The gear icon reveals a sidebar or dedicated settings overlay, housing advanced options that govern display and behavior. Activating it here isolates the process to the current module, preventing global changes.

Customize Status Labels and Colors

Once in Settings, navigate to the visual customization area. This section empowers granular control over labels, allowing you to rename statuses for clarity and assign colors that intuitively convey meaning, thereby improving usability in daily operations.

  1. Scroll down to the Custom Status Labels section. The Custom Status Labels area lists default statuses—such as “On Hold” “Pending Approval,” or “Approved”—with editable fields for text and color selectors. Scrolling here ensures you reach the relevant controls without overlooking other settings.

  2. For each status, enter the desired label text and select a color as needed. Updating the label text refines terminology to match your workflow, like changing “Pending” to “Under Review” for precision. Simultaneously, choosing a color via the picker tool applies it to the card badges, using hues that differentiate stages effectively—ensuring the visual hierarchy supports rapid scanning in busy project views.

Changes take effect immediately upon saving or exiting settings, refreshing the card view to reflect your updates across all relevant lists and filters. This real-time application minimizes downtime, allowing seamless integration into ongoing tasks.

Supplementary Notes

Customizations are module-specific, so repeat the process for other features like Projects or Submittals to maintain a cohesive look throughout the platform. Limit color choices to a palette of 5-7 distinct shades to avoid visual clutter; test visibility in both light and dark modes if applicable. If default statuses suffice but colors need tweaking, focus solely on the picker without altering labels. For team-wide consistency, share settings via admin exports or documentation to align views across users.
