In Contractor Foreman, Progress Billing Invoices allow you to invoice for portions of work as they are completed, tracking the percentage of work invoiced over time. The Schedule of Values (SOV) is the key tool for managing this, as it contains all the project items and tracks the percentage invoiced for each item.

You can create an invoice from two places.

From the Financials tab of a project: Open the project and navigate to the Financials tab, then click on the +Invoice button.

From the Invoices module: Go to the Invoices module from the main menu, then click on the +Invoice button.

Creating the Invoice:

When you create a new invoice, you will be prompted to enter the usual invoice details (such as project, customer, terms, etc.). Once these are filled in and the invoice is created, you’ll have the option to add items to your invoice by navigating to the items tab of the invoice from the left panel.

To ensure proper tracking of progress billing, select “Import from Schedule of Values” when adding items to your invoice. The SOV keeps track of all project items and previous invoicing percentages. Importing from the SOV allows you to maintain a consistent billing record.

Once items are imported from the SOV, you will see the invoiced and remaining percentage for each item based on previous invoices. Adjust the percentage for each item from the Invoice (%) column to reflect the current progress of work being invoiced. The system will automatically calculate the remaining percentage to invoice for future billings.

Ensure that you always import items from the Schedule of Values for progress billing invoices. Importing items from other sources (e.g., estimates, cost items database) may cause inconsistencies, as those invoices won’t be reflected in the SOV’s invoiced percentage. By consistently importing items from the Schedule of Values, you can ensure that the invoiced percentage for each item is accurately tracked and reflected in the project’s financials. This method helps you keep a clear record of how much work has been billed and what remains to be invoiced, making progress billing a smooth and organized process in Contractor Foreman.
