How do I delete a Cost Code I no longer use?

Cost Codes that are no longer needed can be archived in Contractor Foreman. Archiving removes the Cost Code from active use while keeping it available in the system for reference and historical records.

How to Archive a Cost Code

  1. Go to the Main Menu and select Settings.
  2. Under System Settings, select Cost Codes.
  3. Locate the Cost Code you no longer want to use.
  4. Select the Archive option for that Cost Code.
  5. Confirm the action when prompted.

Once archived, the Cost Code will no longer be available as an active Cost Code when adding new financial or project information.

If you need to access an archived Cost Code later, use the available status/filter options in the Cost Codes section to view archived Cost Codes.

  • A confirmation prompt will appear. Confirm that you want to archive the cost code.
  • Once archived, the cost code will no longer appear in the active list when creating new estimates or entering financial data. You can view archived cost codes by filtering for them in the Cost Codes section if needed.

Archiving is an effective way to manage unused cost codes without losing historical data.

Cost codes cannot be deleted directly in Contractor Foreman. However, if you need to remove existing cost codes, you can request assistance via Live Chat support or by emailing Support@contractorforeman.com

We recommend this if your account is new or if you need to integrate with QuickBooks. If you have multiple projects with cost codes, deleting them is not advisable.
