Importing estimate items from a CSV file into Contractor Foreman allows you to quickly upload multiple line items in bulk, saving time and ensuring data accuracy. This feature is particularly useful when dealing with large estimates that need to be pre-populated with specific items, quantities, and costs.

To ensure that your CSV file is structured correctly, it’s recommended to use the Contractor Foreman CSV template. This template helps to avoid formatting issues and ensures that the system can accurately identify and import the items.

Estimate Import Template

First, navigate to the Estimates Module in the Contractor Foreman system. Once you’re in the Estimates Module, locate and select the Estimate you want to import items into. Click on the estimate name to open it.

In the estimate, go to the Items tab from the left panel. This is where you can view and manage all of your estimate’s line items.

Just below the Estimate Financial Summary, you will find the Add Item to Estimate drop-down menu to the right. Click on it, and from the available options, select Import Items from CSV File.

A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to upload your CSV file. Click the “Choose File” button and select the CSV file from your computer or drag and drop the file to the window.

Once you upload the file, Contractor Foreman will automatically generate a preview of the items contained within the CSV file.

Contractor Foreman will try to identify automatically and match the relevant columns in your CSV file, such as Item Name, Quantity, and Cost. Ensure that all relevant columns from your CSV file are correctly matched to the right categories.

If the system does not automatically match a column (e.g., Item Description), click on the heading of that column, and manually select the appropriate field (e.g., Item Description, Quantity, Cost, etc.).

Review the preview carefully to make sure everything is properly aligned and that no important data is missing. Once you’ve confirmed that the columns are correctly matched and all data looks accurate, click the “Import” button. This will import all of the items from your CSV file into the Estimate.

After importing, check the Items Tab in the Estimate to make sure that all items were imported correctly. You can now adjust or modify the individual line items as needed.
