At this time, it is not possible to import Work Order items directly into a Change Order Request or Change Order in Contractor Foreman.

Here’s why:
Once a Work Order is approved, and if it is marked as a Cost Work Order, its value is automatically added to the Schedule of Values (SOV). This means the system already accounts for the scope, cost, and contract value of that Work Order. In other words, you don’t need to duplicate the same scope again in a Change Order, the Work Order has already updated the project’s financials.

Why this makes sense

  • It avoids double-counting project revenue or costs.

  • Keeps the financial workflow clean and accurate.

  • Ensures that each tool, Work Orders vs. Change Orders, is used for its intended purpose.

Best practice

If the client requests additional work not covered by the Work Order, that’s when you should create a Change Order. Use Change Orders for true changes to the original contract scope, while Work Orders should be used to add entirely new scopes of work or internal assignments.
