Purpose

To prevent a Change Order amount from being added to the overall contract value of a project.

Background

In Contractor Foreman, you can create a No Cost Change Order when a change needs to be documented but should not increase the project’s overall contract value.

This is useful when additional work needs to be tracked for documentation, scheduling, or other project-management purposes, but there is no additional cost to the customer.

Create a No Cost Change Order

  1. Navigate to the Change Orders module.
  2. Open an existing Change Order or create a new one.
  3. Enter the required Change Order details and add any applicable items.
  4. In the Details section, locate the No Cost Change Order checkbox.
  5. Check No Cost Change Order.

6. Review the Change Order details and confirm that the No Cost Change Order option is selected.
7.Click Save to save your changes.

What Happens When “No Cost Change Order” Is Selected?

When the No Cost Change Order option is selected, the Change Order is documented in the project but its amount is not included in the overall contract value.

This allows you to track the change without increasing the project’s contract amount.

Also, the No Cost Change Order helps to start the process of creating a Subcontract Change Order. We recommend you reading this article; How do I generate a Change Order for a Subcontractor?
