Contractor Foreman provides a flexible way to automatically generate Project IDs for better project tracking and organization. You can customize these IDs by setting a starting number or prefix, or even use a mix of automatic and custom IDs for each project.

From the main menu, go to the Projects module. Once in the Projects module, click on the Gear icon located at the top right of the screen to open the Projects Settings.

In the General Settings section, find the “Customized Start Number” field. Here, you will have several options for generating Project IDs.

Start at Number: This option allows you to set a starting number for your Project IDs. From the number you choose, the system will automatically increment each new project ID sequentially.
Custom Text: This option is for manually applying custom text to each project ID. It’s useful if you need specific or non-numeric identifiers for certain projects.
Auto/Custom: A combination of auto-generated and custom IDs. This option provides flexibility, letting you blend automatic numbering with your custom naming conventions as needed.

Adding a Prefix (Optional): You can choose to add a specific prefix to all generated Project IDs. For example, if you want all projects to start with “CF-“, you can enable this and type in your preferred prefix.

If you set Start at Number to “100” and add a Prefix of “CF-“, the first project ID generated will be CF-100, and subsequent projects will follow as CF-101, CF-102, etc.
