A credit in an expense refers to a negative entry that offsets or reduces the total cost of a project or account. This typically happens when there’s a refund, rebate, or an adjustment to a previously logged expense.

For example, if you return a purchased item like extra paint or unused materials, the refunded amount is entered as a credit (negative number) in the expense record. This ensures that the total project costs are accurate and reflect the actual money spent.

Using credits properly helps maintain precise financial records and ensures accountability in project budgets, especially in residential construction where small adjustments can impact overall costs.

To show an Expense in negative amount, enter the Expense and place a – (negative sign) in front of the amount.
