In Contractor Foreman, collaboration among internal team members is key to efficient project management. To help with this, the platform provides various ways to quickly share important documents and modules internally. One of these tools is the “Share Internal Link” feature, which you can find in the three-dot dropdown menu (also known as the “actions” menu) on many pages, including the Sub-Contracts module.

This article explains the purpose of this feature, how it works, and the requirements for using it effectively within your company.

Purpose of the “Share Internal Link” Icon

The “Share Internal Link” icon allows you to easily share a direct link to a specific Sub-Contract (or another record) with other users inside your company who also have access to Contractor Foreman. Rather than having your colleagues search through modules or lists to find a specific record, this feature lets you send them directly to the item in question.

For example:

  • You’ve just created a Sub-Contract and want your project manager to review it.
  • Instead of telling them to go into the Sub-Contracts module and look for it manually, you click “Share Internal Link”, copy the link, and send it to them via email, chat, or internal communication tools like Slack or Teams.
  • When the project manager clicks the link, it will open that exact Sub-Contract in Contractor Foreman—saving time and avoiding confusion.

Important Requirement: User Access

While this is a very useful tool, it only works if the person you’re sharing the link with meets the following condition:

They must be a user within your company’s Contractor Foreman account.

This means:

  • The link will not work for subcontractors, clients, or directory contacts who do not have login credentials.
  • The link is intended strictly for internal team collaboration.

If someone who is not a user attempts to open the link, they will either see an error or be redirected to the login screen without permission to view the content.

How to Use the “Share Internal Link” Feature

  1. Navigate to the specific record (such as a Sub-Contract).
  2. Click the three-dot icon (•••) at the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select “Share Internal Link.”
  4. A window will pop up displaying the internal link.
  5. Click “Copy” to copy the link to your clipboard.
  6. Paste the link in your internal message, email, or communication platform and send it to your team member.

The “Share Internal Link” option is a quick and efficient way to streamline communication and coordination between users inside your company. It allows you to send a direct link to a Sub-Contract (or any other module record), helping your team save time and stay on the same page. Just remember that the feature only works for internal users who are logged into your Contractor Foreman account.

Using this tool effectively can greatly improve internal workflows, especially when multiple users are reviewing or editing project documentation.
