Working with PDF Markups and Measurements

Overview

Contractor Foreman allows you to take measurements directly from your drawings using the PDF Markup tool. With this feature, you can measure dimensions, areas, and distances as long as a scale is set according to your drawing.

This function works within the Files and Photos module and can also be accessed from other modules such as To-Dos, providing flexibility across your workflow.

How to Access PDF Markups

  1. Go to the Files and Photos module.

  1. Open the PDF drawing you want to measure.

  2. Select the Markup option.

  1. Choose the Measurement Tool (ruler or area icon).

Setting the Scale

Before taking measurements:

  1. Click Set Scale in the markup toolbar.

  2. Use a known reference (e.g., a wall or doorway) to set the drawing’s scale.

  3. Once the scale is set, you can accurately measure any distance or area on the PDF.

Taking Measurements

Once the scale is configured, you can:

  • Measure distances between two points.

  • Calculate areas by outlining shapes.

  • View dimensions for rooms, structures, or components.

All measurements can be saved directly to the PDF for easy sharing and review.

Where It Works

  • Files and Photos module (full functionality).

  • To-Dos and other modules (view and markup support).

  • Mobile App: Measurement tools are also available in the app when working with drawings in the Files and Photos module.

Tips

  • Use high-quality drawings to ensure measurement precision.

  • Double-check your scale before taking area or length measurements.

  • If you need a sample drawing for testing, contact support.
